Improving the ninja evading: before and after

Allowing the player to evade is important; it represents defense. The player can dodge in eight directions—forward, back, forward left, forward right, etc. This dodge mechanic was created several months ago. As a team, we are always prototyping and re-iterating. We recently took a closer look at the dodge animations and felt that they needed to be changed—previous ones felt too stylish.
These new evade animations that we added feel more authentic and less over the top. The feeling we are aiming for is to make sure the player feels like a human ninja versus a superhero (if you understand where we are coming from). Thank you all for reading and watching.
